Shivers down our spine...

Last week when driving towards Dunkerque to get on the boat to Dover and arrive for the start of the Mongolian Rally in London, Avinash and Sebastiaan had a little accident with the car. This happened just after crossong the border with Belgium. Luckily the both of them where alright, the car however got a proper beating on the right rear. The rear right tire was completely broken. So after waiting for 3 hours till the towing service arrived (and it was HOT outside), we finally got to a small garage in Sint-Lennaards. The ANWB told us it would take between one or two weeks to transport the car back to the Netherlands so we were a bit worried we couldn't even go to Mongolia anymore. Besides that problem we also heard from the organisation Go Help that our car would cost an extra of 3000 US Dollars to import it in Mongolia. Since our fundings could never pay that we decided to quit the Mongolian Charity Rally.

When still in Belgium, making phonecalls, the travel insurance said they were able to get our car back on monday or tuesday, instead of two weeks time. So we accepted that and indeed on monday the car was delivered to our garage VLA, Van Loon Auto's Almelo, who has sponsored the car to us. They were able to fix the car the samen day. So now the car is completely ready again to start the journey.

Also after some back and forth emailing Go Help, the organisor of the rally, offered us a deal we couldn't refuse. We were very happy ofcourse since we are now able to start our Mongolian Rally once again. Today the three of us went to Den Haag to apply for our Russian visa. Next week on wednesday the visa will be ready and we can pack our things and leave for Mongolia!!!

So to everyone who has seen our dramatic Tweets or mails, forget them, we still go! Thanks for all your support.

Ja gelukkig wel, jammer dat ik Jordanie dan moet missen. Tenzij we Mongolie niet eens halen, maar daar gaan we natuurlijk niet vanuit.
