“I have a dream!” is a sentence Martin Luther King jr. and I shared. My dream for the last couple of years was to work abroad for about half a year or maybe a year. There was only this slight problem that Multiscope is no international company. Quiting my job at Multiscope was no option since I like working there and with my colleagues too much. The solution eventually presented itself at our most recent MT meeting.
The beginning of 2008 was kick-off time for John Kivit’s plan to setup an offshoring company for IT development. The initial plan was to search for a loyal and reliable local manager, but as time passed this proved to be more difficult than expected. This is where dream and need met. I applied for the job in the evening after the MT meeting. To my surprise everyone was excited about it. Of’course there were the pitfalls, but knowing they exist is the first step in avoiding them.
Since that particular evening everything changed rapidly. Lots of info, new contacts in Romania, contract negations and of’course telling my family and friends. Now, almost 3 weeks later, I think I am ready to go, but I know there is still a long way to go.
