Self-motivation: Self-Respect

Benjine Gerber - Sunday 15 February 2009 - 21:34 - 56 x read
Self-respect could be a most powerful motivational driving force! To increase self-respect, you have to follow your own rules and do as your heart tells you. Develop maximum honour and respect for yourself and see how your creativity blossoms...

Passion: Only you can ensure that your inner needs are satisfied. Pursuing your passions will make your world go round! It will open up creativity in many areas of your life, bringing opportunities like promotions at work and far greater wealth.

Decide for yourself: You may wonder what you should you be doing. If you want to be motivated, decide for yourself what you should be doing, don't look to others to tell you. Someone else may help you to formulate what it is you want to do, but no-one can tell you what you should be doing.

Enjoyment: Do the things you enjoy and enjoy the things you are doing. Practise every moment putting this principle into use and in a few weeks, it will have become second nature!

Responsibility: You are the most important person in your life and it is vital to take responsibility for your own well-being. Relying on anyone else to make decisions on your behalf is unrealistic and irresponsible.

Experience life: Respect your own and everyone else's wish to enjoy life and not be restricted in experiencing the world. You probably don't just want to exist by someone else's rules - assert your right to live your life according to your own values.

Effortless: The quality of self-respect enables you to effortlessly make time for relaxing activities. You will easily fit your own needs and desires around other obligations and duties.

Permission: Give yourself permission to do the things you enjoy doing, like having a really successful, profitable business, or spending quiet time alone or pursuing enjoyable hobbies.

Results: Self-respect brings you a life of satisfaction and self-fulfilment, self-motivation, opportunities to reach your potential and improve your skills and the ability to attract health and prosperity.

In charge: The more you are in charge of your life, setting the pace and making the rules, the better it becomes - imagine it... expand your imagination more and more. Taking centre stage will ignite our own personal motivation!

Health

Remember to always take good care of yourself - to enjoy your success to the fullest, you'll need to have good health! When you become exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally it is a sign that your health may be at risk.

Time off: It is critical to take time for relaxation, rest and vacation when you completely avoid business activities. You will be focused and energised to deal with any backlog when you return. I'm never too busy to take time to recharge - could be your badge of honour.

Take breaks: Take regular breaks if time allows. If you take enough rest, you will be able to think clearly and you will be able to do your tasks properly. By taking breaks, you will avoid getting tense and frustrated.

Food: Watch out for sugary foods - the sugar blues is likely to diminish your motivation. Caffeine will substitute for health for a while, but you need enough energy to have daily motivation.

Sleep well: Sleep and recharge sufficiently after a long working day.

Stress: Find ways to effectively let go of excessive stress. Balance your work, personal and family life!

Physical Activities:

Exercise: You will notice an increase in your self-motivation through doing regular exercise. It helps your body work more effectively and efficiently. A surprising bonus is that exercise helps you to come up with more creative solutions. Regular exercise allows you to do your daily tasks with more vigour and energy. It is a proven fact that exercise can increase blood flow, speed up metabolism and increase energy. All of these factors can help you to feel like your old self again.

Go out: Buying something nice for yourself will perk you right up. Or sometimes buying something special for someone else will do even more!
Go wild: Put on some dance music and burn off that negative energy. Run through the house, jump, roll and twirl! Pretend to be a ballerina or perhaps even a rock star. Just be careful not to hurt yourself.

Scream: Bury your face in a pillow and let it all out. Speak your mind and release those bent up emotions. This can be an eternal cleansing process.

Laugh: Turn on a comical show or find someone to tell you a good joke. Have someone tickle you or try to recall a funny experience you have had in the past.
