Retweet, iPhone app for advanced twitterazzi

Want to be on top of the news in Twitter always ? Want to know about everything that goes on in the twitterworld ? Trendwatching not enough on twitter.com or in Tweetie on your iPhone ? Retweet is just the thing for you.

The iPhone application Retweet was downloadable for free yesterday, but is for sale again for just $ 0,79 in the iPhone store.

Why would you use it ?
Twitter is becoming a big resource of information and knowledge, a meetingplace for networks and networkers, and information overload is near. Filtering information is very important and desktop clients like tweetdeck increase the availability of relevant information for you.

Mobile is a totally different story, the more powerfull applications like Tweetie increase the effectiveness, but having over 250 followers is getting quite hard to spot the trends.

Tweetie allows you to scan for trends, but the question is how relevant those are to you.

Retweet on the other hand, let's you spot trends for 4 different time windows, 30 minutes, 3 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours. It counts the amount of notices of a specific piece of information (usually a link to a certain website or article) or the amount of "retweets" done by a user.

It also has an internal webbrowser that allows a decent checkup of the information tweeted and, ofcourse, the biggest advantage, is "retweeting" this information.

Don't overdo this ofcourse, just post relevant information for you and your network and don't forget to check your facts...

My review of this product is still on the way, after 2 days of usage I did found relevant information for me, but the increasing population (and perhaps polution) of the medium is still something to care about. Additional "filters" based on tags or networking power would come in handy, and perhaps a reminder to check the trends on a periodic scheme in the new iPhone software would increase it's effectiveness and my schedule of staying up to date.
