Twitter, $100M invested, but why ?

This morning, my favorite RSS reader provided me with this topic on Mashable: "WOW: twitter to raise $100 million in New funding" and I was suprised at first, but somehow it hit me.

Comments are all about "how the f*ck will twitter make money", "how will they ever repay their investors ?" well, it's not about that...

The new economy is not about money, it's about trust. Authenticity. I've been raised to make money, (ab)use my talents, exactly not doing what I deeply want, satisfy my needs, but to trust the system that I'll manage my life, as long as I do what I learned.

This investment (and lots to follow, trust me) is just about that, something that doesn't fit the system, is exactly the opposite of what expected, twitter just doesn't need a money making "Scheme", a lot of others are already on that ball.

My reaction on that topic is something I'd like to share :

"Wake up people, it's not about the medium, it's about the users ! It's about the content, that's worth the money ! They create an infrastructure to communicate, investors want to be part of that deal, the top of the food chain, believing in what twitter already means to the community participating, it's role in the worlds' economy, the power of open, authentic communication.

The whole discussion about "how does twitter make revenue" isn't relevant at all, the community is already developing that. Twitter won't shut that down, they'll open up even more. Twitter doesn't need to make money, it's the new money... Intangiable, but there..."

Stop worrying about if and why twitter wants to make money, believe that twitter is there to stay, maybe not in it's current form, it's just a medium...

Follow me on twitter using the button on my profile... Here to stay for a long time ;)
