In 2007 is met behulp van het IHJR
in Novi Sad het Center for History, Democracy and Reconciliation (CDHR) opgericht, voortvloeiend uit de betrokkenheid van het IHJR daaraan voorafgaand met het zgn. Scholars’ Initiative dat onlangs de publicatie “Confronting the Yugoslav Controversies” (Purdue University Press 2009) heeft uitgebracht.
Het CDHR wordt aangestuurd door een regionale stuurgroep met leden uit Servië, Kroatië en Bosnie-Herzegovina.

Voor 2009-2010 is de focus gericht op “Facing the Past – Searching the Future”, waarin 6 teams van wetenschappers werken aan vraagstukken over nationale identiteit, soevereiniteit, verschillen en overeenkomsten die de geschiedenis van de voormalige Joegoslavische republieken hebben gekleurd.
Onderzoeksthema’s hierbij zijn:
1. Collaboration and Resistance in World War II Yugoslavia: Myths and Legacies
2. Josip Broz Tito and the National Question in Yugoslavia
3. Serbs and Albanians – Albanians and Serbs: the Experience of One Century
4. National and Ethnic Identities in ex- Yugoslavia
5. Human Losses/Casualties in Yugoslavia in the 20th Century
6. The Myth Factories: Yugoslavia and Former Yugoslav Territories 1945-1999

Het CDHR heft de volgende publicaties al het licht doen zien:
- Mitovi Nacionalizma/Demokratija (2009)
- Serbo-Croat Relations in the 20th Century – The Past and the Perspectives (2008)
- Myths and Stereotypes of Nationalism and Communism in ex- Yugoslavia
- Shared History and the Second World War and National Question in ex- Yugoslavia (2008)
- Rat I Manjine: Rat u Hrvatskoj 1991-1995, Nezavisnost I Sudbina Manjina 1991-1992 (2007)
- Zoals je ziet, dus ook publicaties in de lokale taal om zo de resultaten verder te kunnen verspreiden en zichtbaar te maken.
