“Schools should not use new technologies to teach the same old crap. Schools 3.0 willneed to rebuild themselves not on software, not on hardware, but on mindware.”
(John Moravec from Education Futures)
Most educational institutions are in desperate need of innovation. Schools are focused on teaching students directly from textbooks, the methods used and knowledge taught have hardly changed for generations. Schools and universities have become isolated from the current society and practice.
We believe that schools should focus much more on co-creation, not just on transferring knowledge but creating it together with all stakeholders. The focus should shift from teaching students
what to learn towards teaching them
how to learn, how to make your choices and how to obtain the right information. This will be much more valuable than schools transferring a large chunk of information to students which will be rapidly outdated anyway. There are quite a few schools which have embraced this mindset and have adopted a different approach to education. However, these tend to be independent cases.
This website serves as a platform to discuss and connect initiatives in relation to educational innovation. Here we will inform you about these initiatives and any events related to Society 3.0 education.
