[Web Review] ReaditLater

Do you have that problem as well ? Reading a lot on the web and just don't have the time right here and right now to do so ? Readitlater offers the solution !

While I'm a big fan of aggregating content in the early morning and late at night to read something in bed or at a different place, I usually relied on firefox to keep that content safe. After the last crash of firefox and not being able to restore the content, I got tired... Tired of browsing through my netvibes and looking for those feeds again, wich I obviously forgot. Opening 30 tabs is no exception for me and finding those can be a drag.

But I stumbled upon ReadItLater, a tool that saves me a lot of time and space in my browser.

It allows me to save tabs for later, but current content as well. Next to that, If I'm on a page like mashable or engadget where a lot of links with content (internal or external) are posted, I can use the firefox browser addon to quickly "check" those posts and readitlater.

The iPhone addon is really awesome as well, allowing me to read content on my mobile as well, even with offline syncing ! The pro version allows sharing afterwards as well, ofcourse with twitter and delicious integration.

Just take your time, try it out, it's free (except for the pro version) and with the addition of the firefox plugin and the iPhone app, it really saves me a lot of time and resources when I just don't have it ;)

5/5 stars !

Jeroen Mirck - Wednesday 26 August 2009 - 12:50Exactly what I need! Are there any competitors?
Kees Romkes - Wednesday 26 August 2009 - 15:20There are some competitors like :

- Instapaper
- Laterloop

and FriendFeed also supports "Read this later"...

But nothing comes close at the moment, especially thanks to the quick firefox addon and iPhone (or their website, for that matter) support.
Jeroen Mirck - Wednesday 26 August 2009 - 15:27Quickness is key indeed, for this kind of service.
Susanne Bodemeijer - Wednesday 26 August 2009 - 22:20I always use Evernote to store websites I would like to read later (tag: read). Wat is the advantage of using a program like ReaditLater in comparison with Evernote?
Kees Romkes - Thursday 27 August 2009 - 09:40Evernote takes a lot more work, copying the link, pasting in a new note, etc. but it does have it's uses, since it's indexed into Evernote as well. But I'd rather stick to readitlater because it's easy and fast to handle, automatic syncing and "fire and forget", when I click on the readitlater addon it closes that tab so I don't have to think about it again.
Susanne Bodemeijer - Thursday 27 August 2009 - 10:20I installed an evernote add-on in Firefox. I only have to clik on the Evernote button and the website is saved in evernote. The only thing I have to do is add some tags.
Iris Wildeboer - Thursday 27 August 2009 - 14:03I've been using ReaditLater quite a while now and I love it. Often times I find interesting text online and I also use Google Reader. When I don't have time to read the entire article of go through all the feeds, I just click the interesting ones to add them to my readinglist. Google Reader is cleaned up again and I always have my backup. It's great! No tags or other actions, just click the button; easy and fast!
