To create value, we should stop thinking is terms of 'marketing', 'pr' and our old economic thinking. Old economic thinking is based on scarecity, thus forces us to make choices. To do one thing means not-doing another. These elements are time, money and people.

By adding the new additional elements of the interdepent economy like value constellations and global knowledge, these limitations/bounderies will disappear.
Hence, a new playing field will present itself on which the old and the new meet. It wil be either our Armageddon or an enourmous opportunity to create new value.
New value is not only money, but also social capital, however one doesn't go without the other. You need a balance to create sustainability. Most social networks based only on social capital are/will disappear(ring)...

At our Seats2meet formula we rent to companies and institutions seats for private-meetings against real euro's. The buzz (formerly called marketing or pr) is created by a large group of free-agents (they twitter: "I am at seats2meet, have a meeitng at s2m, on my way to s2m etc. so the whole twitter community is aware of what and where s2m is") who in exchage for this buzz creation are allowed to work, eat, drink, surf-wifi FREE of charge in return: social capital.
The growth of this formula is even in theis recession over 15% annually in real money, not counting the social capital.

In one of my next postings I will zoom in on the value constellations...
Question: do you know companies in your countrie who have succes using social capital and real money as a combo?

Metal spider

Marketing will use anything available to turn energies to money.
Romania just went through elections. One of the tools (highly effective) used by one party was the social networks and any unconventional stream to reach the citizens. I supported this party, but still, it made me wonder about all the info that reached me.
By creating a network of friends it's like "welding" metal. Plug it to the "proper" source, and your "AC" will reach all pieces involved (with different voltages, of course). This can be good and bad.
Having all people "connected" creates a sort of control (at least of "delivering"). Because the pieces of the network acknowledge each other as "friends", it's possible to have the "AC" reach it's target without "surge protection".
Thus, I'd recommend that this kind of connectivity should be "fractioned" by critical people/point of views. Everything that goes in must be considered tainted and judged. Common "plazas" to debate are desireable.
By doing this, you'll get REAL value from the "groundswell".
Please correct me if I went on a wrong lane. Am I right? How would you create value?

Elements of the Interdepent Economy

Good to see that you are making an analyses of the present situation. It is a good starting point.
In the Netherlands we are stuck in bureaucracy and I am sure this is the case in Romania too. It is not so much the government itself, but all kind of agencies who have been empowered by the central government to act on its behalf. In general the management of these agencies are well off and they take care of themselves, thus blocking the so much needed innovation.

People in general don't trust the system any more and thanks to the possiblity of connecting people through the internet, people start to create value without using the traditional organizations.
This is called a groundswell: "A social trend in which people use technologies to get the things they need from each other, rather than from traditional institutions like corporations and/or government".

Two things are happening then:
1.the establishment is fighting this development, because they want to stay involved, protecting their power base
2.people are experimenting with the networks on the internet, like Facebook, Mindz.com and others.

After the initial "connecting"-so called creation of friends- it is time to start create value.
Do you regocnize this?

Unfinanced thoughts

I'll start by saying that Romania has the potential of turning into a Interdependent Economy.
As much as I can perceive this concept (and it matches my beliefs), the power comes from the people. You no longer sum-up numbers but thoughts. And thoughts no longer require "financial evaluation".
Recently I've discovered a sort of a "colateral effect" of communism onto Romanians: due to oppression, limited form of expression and fixed patterns of living, many Romanians realised that "multiple skills" are required to be developed in order to survive.
Back then (and now still) it was a must to get a University diploma to reach a minimal level of "safety". This was not the case of majority but of those who actually understood the cruel mechanisms behind the "iron curtain".
So, if a physical or mental "product" was missing, the Romanians struggled to have it somehow. This lead to an underground mentality of "i can do it, i can fix it".
Present day: the mentality persists but it's soon to be replaced by the capitalist "relaxation" of "minimum effort" for the proper fee.
Personally I need a system which can allow me to have "unfinanced thoughts" - to value my thinking beyond the ROI :)
