I am now 2 1/2 month in Afghanistan. In reality being in Afghanistan 3 months in a row is too long. Everything is quite primitive. I am still lucky to go to other places like Kandahar and Mazar. There you still have somewhere to go to and you are not locked up between 4 walls.
The weather is till now always nice but every day a lot of dust. You get a lot of nose bleeds of the dryness. If you fly over this country you wonder why people want to live in this dust bowl. The only thing you see is mountains and sand. Till now I have seen about a half a day of rain. Yes what you sometimes have are sand storms. It looks like a thick fog.
I just returned from Kanadahar. It was this time quiet, no rocket attacks. Have eaten again at TGI Fridays and at Echos a Dutch restaurant group
I must say people between each other are very friendly and helpful, but you can see the company in Holland has no idea what is going on. Here you really can see the small minded attitude of Dutch companies. This week we had a strike from the Afghan workers. I must say they are right, they are treated like dirt. No I must say as soon I find something else I will leave. They can sent me everywhere in the world, even again to Afghanistan but under other conditions and a better working environment. And a company that at least has decent software and not software that till now I never have seen in other companies. It does not work, they are running 20 years behind and do not want to see this.
